Mark Swann
After leaving his professional dancing career due to injury, but armed with an extensive knowledge of Russian Ballet, Mark next turned to teaching where he was Ballet Master to Cambridge University Ballet Club for five years and taught at many local clubs and gyms. Wanting to branch out on his own, in 2016, Mark founded Cambridge Ballet Academy which set out to train dancers to a high level to gain access into further vocational schools.
Over the years Mark has trained many young dancers of which many have gone onto some of the best schools in the UK and further afield. Dancers Mark has trained have gone to Royal Ballet upper, lower, and associates, Tring Park, English National Ballet School, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Laban, Joffrey Ballet School (New York) and Juilliard (New York)
Mark has choreographed for the Royal Bank of Scotland, The BBC and the Royal Academy of Art. Mark's professional work has had work been shown at Saddlers Wells, Royal Opera House, MOVE it Excel London. Marks non-professional work has been shown in many theatres across the county within open dance platforms. Mark is a permanent guest teacher and Cambridgeshire Youth Ballet who are currently rehearsing for Cinderella.
In 2019 the first cohort students completed their BTEC Level 2 in Dance however Cambridge Ballet Academy were outgrowing the various spaces they hired and needed room to grow. At the start of 2020, Mark rebranded the school as Forte Dance Academy and opened their purpose-built full-time studio in Godmanchester, Huntingdon.
At Forte Dance Academy Mark now leads a staff of industry experts where they offer BTEC level 1 – 3 and tuition to young dancers wanting to make their first few steps into the professional dance world.
